Police say one teen is dead and six others injured following a single-vehicle crash overnight (Oct. 24) in Brock Township.

At 12:40 a.m., officers responded to a rolled over pickup truck on Sideline Road 18 near Brock Concession Road 9.

“A grey 2006 Chevrolet Sierra pickup truck was southbound on Sideline Road 18 when it lost control, left the roadway and rolled into a ditch,” said police.

The vehicle was being driven by a 16 year old Sunderland girl and was carrying six other occupants, all aged 15 to 17.

“Four of the occupants were ejected during the rollover,” said police. “One of the occupants, a 15 year old male from Sunderland, was fatally injured as a result of the collision.”

The remaining six occupants were transported to local hospitals and later air-lifted to Toronto trauma centres. Two are currently in critical condition while the other four are in serious but stable condition.

The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has further information to call 905-579-1520 (toll free 1-888-579-1520) ext. 5256.
