An Oshawa man is charged with impaired driving after crashing his car into a family home.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 19, a black Dodge pick-up truck went off the road near Centre Street and Adelaide Avenue 9in central Oshawa. The area sits just south of Parkwood Estate where Simcoe Street splits into two one-way roads.

The truck hit a house then backed out and fled the scene, police say. Officers later headed to the man’s home when they found a truck with damage to the front end. Inside they found still behind the wheel. Police say he “exhibited signs” of intoxication so they arrested him.

The driver, 44, is charged with impaired driving, impaired driving over 80 mg of blood alcohol and fleeing a crash scene. Police allege the man blew 125 mg and 110 mg in two breathalyzer tests. The legal limit is 80 mg.

As is standard, the man’s licence was suspended for 30 days and his car was impounded for two weeks.
