An 8-year-old girl has been found dead in what police suspect to be a murder-suicide at an Oshawa home.

Durham Regional Police discovered two dead in a house on Winlord Place, a suburban street in the northern Windfields Farm area of the city, after a 911 call.

Police confirmed that the girl was found with her 38-year-old father. Investigators believe the evidence points to a murder-suicide and they are not pursuing any further suspects.

The family of the pair has requested police keep the identities of the two private. As such the names have not been released.
