Officers from Durham Region Police’s North Division arrested an impaired driver Saturday after investigating reports of a vehicle in a ditch in Scugog.

Officers responded to the call just before 4:30 pm on Simcoe Street at Clements Road, just north of Port Perry and discovered open alcohol in the centre console of the vehicle. The driver was also showing signs of impairment.

Further investigation revealed the suspect was disqualified from driving and a suspended driver. He was arrested and the vehicle impounded.

The 50 year-old Oshawa man was charged with impaired driving, driving while over .08, driving while prohibited and driving while under suspension.
