A suspicious package has been discovered in the Michael Starr building in the centre of downtown Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police announced they had launched a suspicious package investigation at 33 King St. shortly after noon. The building is home to the Government of Ontario Ministry of Finance offices. Investigators expect major traffic delays on King St. while they investigate.

Starr was Oshawa’s Mayor from 1949-1952 and the city’s MP from 1952-1968. He was the first Ukrainian-Canadian to hold federal office.
