A woman is facing charges after police allegedly found her damaging cars while armed with a sword and ultimately tazed the woman.

Witnesses near Centre Street and John Street in Oshawa called police around 9:30 p.m. on January 16 and reported the woman for damaging parked cars in the area.

When police arrived they found out the woman had the sword on her. They demanded she drop it but the swordswoman allegedly would not respond to these requests.

When she turned to toward an officer, still wielding the sword, the officer fired their tazer. The woman was disarmed and taken into custody. She was medically cleared after a trip to hospital.

The 39-year-old woman is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and failure to comply with an undertaking.
