Canada At War will be the theme of Tank Saturday this weekend at the Ontario Regiment RCAC Museum in Oshawa.

Saturday will be a chance for history lovers to get a closer look at the vehicles that were used by Canada in conflicts from the First World War to Afghanistan. There will also be a live show in the Tank Arena at 1 p.m.

The Ontario Regiment Museum gallery will be open to take visitors that takes you through 200 years of Canadian military history. The highlight for many visitors to the north Oshawa museum is the hangar, where more than 50 machines are on display.

You can also ride in a real military vehicle.

Saturday’s opening ceremonies will also feature a tribute to Trooper Don White of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, a Second World War veteran and long-time volunteer at the museum who died June 17 at the age of 98.

(White was featured in a Juno Beach Centre podcast about his memories helping to liberate the Netherlands. The Juno Beach Centre remembered him fondly here)

Doors open at 10 a.m., with the museum closing at 3 p.m. For tickets and more details visit www.tankmuseum.ca
