Teen assaulted with baseball bat at Whitby high school

A teenager suffered a head injury after they were struck with a baseball bat at a Whitby school.

The victim was attacked over lunchtime on March 21 at Father Leo J Austin Catholic Secondary School. The school sits a 1020 Dryden Blvd. in the town’s north end between Anderson and Garden Streets.

Someone called Durham Regional Police who found the kid with a head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injury is not life-threatening.

Investigators allege an unidentified group of five to six other teens were behind the attack. They believe the attack was targeted and the group does not pose a larger threat to the community.
