Teen charged in Oshawa shooting

A 15-year-old boy is in custody following a Saturday morning shooting in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police received reports about an armed suspect near Wentworth and Cedar St. in the city’s south end shortly before 7 a.m. on Jan 27. When officers responded to the area, they found a 26-year-old man suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Paramedics rushed the man to a Toronto hospital.

Police arrested a 15-year-old suspect at the scene. He’s been charged with pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, and two counts of failure to comply with release conditions. He remains in custody until a bail hearing. His identity can not be disclosed due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act. 

Investigators are asking any witnesses or area residents who may have video footage to come forward. Anyone with information can call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2765.
