Teen girl attacked officer during Whitby disturbance over vape; police claim

A teen girl allegedly attacked a police officer during a disturbance at her north Whitby home.

Durham Police say, the 15-year-old got into an argument with her parents in their home near  Taunton Road West and Thornton Road North. The girl was refusing to leave the home.

However, after officers spoke to her she agreed to leave as long as she could get her vape from her room. When she didn’t immediately get the vape, police claim, she assaulted one of the officers. The cop received minor wounds and needed treatment in hospital.

The girl was quickly restrained and arrested. She’s been charged with assault of a peace officer and breach of a court order. He identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She remains in custody until a bail hearing.
