A 16-year-old girl is recovering from serious injuries after a motorcycle and a van collided in Whitby over the weekend.
On Sept. 7, a Kia Sedona, driven by a 46-year-old Whitby man, turned off Highway 412 to head east down Dundas Street.
To make this turn he had to cross two lanes of heavy westbound traffic. As he made the turn, the girl, riding a Yamaha motorcycle west, crashed into the driver’s door.
The motorcyclist was seriously hurt and required treatment in a Toronto trauma centre. She remains in hospital.
The Durham Police Collision Investigation Unit closed the area down for several hours to investigate. It has since re-opened.
The crash remains under investigation. Police have not laid any charges.
