Teen seriously hurt in Whitby car crash

A 16-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a car crash in Whitby’s northeast corner.

The boy was the passenger in a sedan heading north on Lakeridge Road on July 25. The sedan driver made to turn onto Taunton Road and head west into Ajax when it collided with a southbound pickup truck towing a trailer.

The passenger side took the brunt of the impact, inflicting serious wounds to the passenger. He had to be rushed to a nearby Toronto trauma centre for treatment. He remains in hospital in stable condition. Everyone else involved in the crash received minor wounds.

The crash remains under investigation. The Durham Collision Unit shut the area down for several hours to investigate. No one has been charged with any crime.
