15-year-old girl charged with threatening to ‘shoot up a school’ in Ajax

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with uttering death threats after she was flagged on a Snapchat post threatening to “shoot up a school.”

Durham Police and its West Division Central Investigations Branch received information about a potential school shooting at Archbishop Denis O’Connor Catholic High School Wednesday night. The teenager said on the social media platform she would “shoot up a school” in Ajax.

Police identified the girl and arrested her at her home early Thursday morning and took her into custody without incident.

No weapons were located in her residence and police do not have any concerns for public safety.

The girl was released on a promise to appear in court.
