Theft suspects briefly evade police in south Oshawa

A pair of theft suspects were briefly able to evade Durham Regional officers in southern Oshawa this afternoon.

Police announced a large presence near Cedar St. and Phillip Murray Ave. shortly after 2 p.m. on Oct. 10. According to a social media post, officers were in pursuit of a fleeing vehicle. During the chase, the car struck a cruiser and the suspects ran from their getaway car.

The suspects eluded the offices for a few minutes prompting a large search of the area. However, the pair were quickly detained. Police said there were no further suspects at large. Investigators have not shared what they believe the suspects stole or where it was stolen from.

Police lifted a warning to avoid the area shortly after the suspects’ arrest.
