With the weather still on the warmer side, if you’re looking to spend some time outdoors this weekend, here are some events happening in Durham from September 13 to 15:


September 13

Ajax:

Ajax Psychic and Crystal Fair

The event will feature some of Canada’s top psychics, mediums, astrologers, energy healers, aura photographers, rune readers, tea leaf and palm readers. Visitors can check out all kinds of crystals and handmade jewelry.

Special Terry Fox Superhero Run

Falcon Brewery will host a 5 km run in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. The run will start and finish at the brewery and participants will receive a beverage afterward. Live music will also follow in the evening.

Whitby:

Summer Mobile Food Market

Community Care Durham is hosting a Summer Mobile Food Market at 55+ Recreation Centre. The market will offer fruits and vegetables from local growers at reasonable prices. This initiative aims to provide access to fresh produce while supporting local agriculture.

Oshawa:

Durham Rock and Blues Fest

The daytime part of the event is free to the public and will be held outdoors at Victoria St Parkette, next to the Regent Theatre. Many bands will perform, with food vendors and a licensed concession (cash only) available. The event will take place rain or shine.

Events in the Park – Movie

Happening at Columbus Park, bring your picnic blanket, lawn chair and snacks for a special movie-in-the-park screening of Turning Red. The film follows thirteen-year-old Mei Lee, who struggles between being her mother’s dutiful daughter and navigating adolescence while transforming into a giant red panda when overly excited.

September 14

Pickering:

Broadtree Concert (Cultural Fusion Fair)

Broadtree is a band featuring Armand Antony and Nicole McCafferty. It combines its musical theatre background with catchy pop-country songs. The band addresses topics like racial equality and mental health, spotlighting underrepresented communities in country music.

 Cultural Fusion Fair

The Gazebo Stage will host performing artists celebrating musical diversity. The Artisan Market will offer unique creations from local vendors, with a cultural fashion featuring clothing from around the world. Culturalicious will offer a variety of food options for attendees to enjoy.

Fall Bulbs for Spring Colour Seminar

Curbside Giveaway Day

The event, which is happening at Whitby Town Hall, encourages residents to place unwanted items in good condition with “free” written on them on their curb for others to take. After the event, residents are responsible for returning unclaimed items to their homes. This is an opportunity to declutter, reduce waste, and find new homes for unwanted items.
