Third suspect in 2022 shooting in rural Clarington, Ontario arrested

The investigation into a confrontation in rural Clarington in the early summer of 2022 that left two men with gunshot wounds and another stabbed has resulted into a third suspect taken into custody.

Stephen Nathaniel Falconer, 22, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of assault with a weapon, assault and firing a weapon “with intent.”

Durham Police were called to a home near Newtonville Road and Concession Road 4 in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 22, 2022 after getting reports of an armed person at a massive house party. Two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds and taken to a Toronto trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A third man went to a local hospital with stab wounds and was then taken to Toronto, also with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators from the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch conducted an extensive investigation and identified three suspects.  On Thursday, March 23, 2023, Trenton Bignell and Austin Day were arrested. The third suspect remained at large until Thursday when Falconers was found and arrested without incident.

Falconer was held for a bail hearing.
