Thirty-two new COVID cases, with almost all from Clarington, Oshawa and Whitby

Thirty-two new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Durham yesterday as health officials try to control the latest series of outbreaks in the region.
Clarington (10), Oshawa (9) and Whitby (8) reported the bulk of the new cases. The active cases total rose slightly as well to 178. There remains one person in hospital.
Outbreaks in schools and day cares continue to rise with 12 outbreaks reported Wednesday involving 18 students. Half of those home self-isolating are from Clarington.
Long-term care homes remain virus-free and there is one workplace outbreak.
