Three charged after police raid illegal weed shop in Oshawa for the third time

An illegal pot shop in Oshawa was raided yet again last week resulting in charges for three men.

This is the third such raid at Oshaweed, an unlicensed cannabis dispensary on King St by the Midtown Mall. Durham Regional Police raided the shop the first time back in late July.

At that point one woman, 47, was charged with possession with intent to sell. The cops seized $66,000 worth of pot in this raid.

Days later in early August police raided the shop again. This time they seized $25,000 worth of cash, cannabis and paraphernalia. A 40-year-old man was charged with possession with intent to sell in this second raid.

On September 13 police raided Oshaweed yet again. This time they arrested the owner and two associates on site. The cops followed up with a raid at a home in Woodbridge.

In total they seized $45,000 of product between the two September raids. This brings Oshaweed’s total losses up to $136,000.

Trung Nguyen, 35 of Woodbridge, three counts of possession with intent to sell and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000. He remains in custody until a bail hearing.

Steven Thompson, 4o of Oshawa, faces charges of possession with intent to sell, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with release conditions. He too was held pending a bail hearing.

Thomas Perez, 21 of Woodbridge is charged with obstructing a police officer, and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000. He was released with conditions.
