Three men in custody when loaded gun found after Whitby bar fight

Three suspects are in custody when a loaded handgun was discovered in the aftermath of a bar fight in Whitby in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Central West Division officers responded to a fight call at The Tap and Tankard bar on Brock Street South just after one a.m. There was a large disturbance involving several patrons with some mention of a knife. Police arrested the fleeing suspects nearby and the K-9 Unit then searched the area and found the loaded firearm.

Wali Said Zada, 21, and Moreland McNeil, 23, of Ajax and Ritchy Francis, 22, of Oshawa all face numerous firearms-related charges including possess loaded prohibited/restricted firearm; possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm no licence and possess firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with.

They were all held for bail hearings.
