Three outbreaks at Oshawa’s Hillsdale Estates and two new deaths in region say virus not done

COVID-19 numbers are still on the way down but two new deaths underline the fact the pandemic is not quite over yet.
There are 41 people in hospital with the virus – up from 37 last week – with two in ICU. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 since the pandemic was declared in Durham Region stands at 505.
Other numbers were favourable, with 328 new cases (from 379); a per cent positivity rate of 9.4 (down slightly from 9.5 per cent) and the weekly incidence rate at 44.7 per 100,000 (from 49.9 last week).
There are 20 outbreaks at Durham institutions such as long term care homes and retirement centres (up from 12), with three of those at local hospitals and three at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa.
