Tim Hortons location in Oshawa with safety issues to close Sept. 15 as part of GO train expansion

Safety concerns prompted a temporary closure of in-dining in January and the impending new GO Station will now force the permanent closure of a Tim Horton’s location on Simcoe Street South in Oshawa next month.
The restaurant will serve its last coffee and donuts September 15.
The new GO Station is being built just behind the Tim Horton’s location and the property was expropriated by Metrolinx to make way for the new station, part of a grand expansion by the transit operator to bring GO Train service all the way to Bowmanville.
The central Oshawa station will be one of four new stations in Durham Region, including two in Oshawa.
The Simcoe Street location shut down in-dining for a few days in January following safety concerns from staff before re-opening from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Another Tim Horton’s location in downtown Oshawa closed permanently for similar reasons before the pandemic.
