A Help Stop a Crime post from Durham Police last fall has led to the arrest of two Whitby men wanted in a robbery at the Ajax GO Station.

Police said two men entered a secure room at the GO station October 8 and stole numerous items, including a Polaris ATV.

Investigators were able to obtain video images of the suspects which were posted on DRPS’ Help Solve a Crime section on November 17, which led to numerous tips from the public.

Less than two months later – on January 14 – investigators found the first suspect, who was taken into custody without incident.  On Monday (February 5), the second suspect was arrested.

Durham Police released a statement expressing their “sincere gratitude” to all those who helped in finding these individuals.

Justin Larochelle, 35 is charged with motor vehicle theft and break-and-enter. Darren Meany, 44, is charged with motor vehicle theft, break-and-enter and fail to comply with probation order.

Both were released on an Undertaking.

Anyone with new information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Sheridan of the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 3961.
