Dads (and Moms and kids too) will get a special treat Saturday with the appearance of Toronto Maple Leaf legends Doug Gilmour and Wendel Clark at the Oshawa Centre as part of the All-Star Dads Father’s Day weekend event.
Families will have the chance to meet and greet with the two former captains of the hockey club, who are still beloved more than two decades after playing their last games in the blue and white.
Visitors can participate in a variety of activities throughout the weekend, browse a marketplace filled with Father’s Day gifts and enjoy DJ entertainment.
Hockey-themed interactive workshops (for a $5 donation) will be Sunday’s highlight, with kids encouraged to create personalized hockey pucks (noon) and customized mini hockey sticks (one p.m.), with opportunities to also create a custom hockey card for Dad and an iron-on station to purchase and personalize hats.
Visitors can spin-to-win for a chance to win prizes, including signed hockey sticks from Mitch Marner.
All proceeds from the workshops, custom hockey cards and iron-on patch station will go to the Marner Assist Foundation.
The Meet & Greet will be Saturday from noon to three p.m. with other activities from 10 a.m. to six p.m. both days.
“Our team has planned an incredible interactive event weekend for all the all-star dads in our community,” said Oshawa Centre Vice President of Retail Property Management Chris Keillor. “It’s more than just an event; it’s a fun way for families to come together and celebrate Dad and give back to the community through our partnership with Marner Assist Foundation.”
