Touch-a-Truck is returning to the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa this summer and Big Brothers and Big Sisters will be the big beneficiaries.

The ninth annual Touch-a-Truck event, presented by Oshawa Power and hosted by Tribute operator OVG360, will be held Friday, August 25, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-West Durham.

The free community event will be hosted outside and around the Tribute Centre – in conjunction to the Kars on King  event happening around the downtown – and is a hands on event (naturally) that allows children of all ages to get up close and personal with more than 40 vehicles. Tribute’s Directing of Marketing and Sales and Assistant General Manager William Balfour said kids love the interactive displays and the opportunity to learn about the vehicles from the drivers.

“After last year’s largest turnout yet, we can’t wait to see what is in store for this year’s Touch-a-Truck event,” said Balfour. “We continue to be blown away by the ongoing support of community partners that fuel this event year after year and are excited to have Oshawa Power come on board as presenting sponsor this year to help continue making this event possible for the community.”

Mike Weatherbee, the Managing Director for Oshawa Power, said the utility company was “excited” to partner with OVG360 for the “engaging, informative and family-friendly” event.  “We always look forward to showing kids and parents the important work we do and the safety features and equipment that keep us and our community safe.”

OVG360 is encouraging attendees to donate what they can to Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-West Durham during the event at their booth. There will also be a charity BBQ on site as part of the fundraiser.

Vehicle and community partners for this year’s event include Auto Heaven, City of Oshawa, Durham College, Durham Kubota, Durham Radio, Durhamway Bus Lines, Durham Region Transit, Mackie Transportation, Miller Maintenance Durham, the Ministry of Transportation, Mix On-Site, Noble Crane, Ontario Tech University, Oshawa Fire, Region of Durham Paramedic Services, Two Men and a Truck with more to be announced closer to the date.

Participating vehicles will be available (subject to change) on the tributecommunitiescentre.com website.
