‘Toys 4 Tickets and Food’ parking ticket program returns to Pickering
Published November 22, 2024 at 11:12 am
With more than $1,300 in donations raised last year, the City of Pickering is bringing back the ‘Toys 4 Tickets and Food 4 Fines’ program, where toy and food donations will be accepted as payments for parking tickets issued between November 25 to December 18.
Toy donations must be new and unwrapped and all food donations must be non-perishable. The value of the donation must be equal to or greater than the fine on the ticket, with receipts required.
Tickets issued for illegal parking in accessible spaces are not eligible for the program. Donations unrelated to tickets will be gladly accepted.
Donations will be accepted Monday to Friday during business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) from November 25 to December 18 at the second floor of City Hall.
All donations will be distributed to the Durham Regional Police Food & Toy Drive and the Pickering Fire Services Food & Toy Drive, which will make a difference to the lives of those in need this holiday season.
Last year, the City raised $1,343 worth of donations from the community.
