Trans-Ams returning to Clarington’s CTMP for 2024 after ten year absence

The Trans Ams are returning to Mosport.

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) announced today that the Pirelli-sponsored Trans-Am Series, the longest-running professional road racing series in North America, will return to Canada in 2024 at the Labour Day Sprints Weekend event.

Parella Motorsports Holdings, which owns the Trans-Am Series, confirmed the Trans-Am TA and TA2 categories for the Clarington track on the first weekend in September next year. Parella also owns the Formula Regional Americas (FR Americas), and Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.), which will also be competing at the Labour Day Sprints.

“We’re really pleased to announce that Trans-Am, FR Americas, and F4 U.S. will be on the CTMP calendar for 2024,” said track President and General Manager Myles Brandt.

The Trans-Am Series first competed at the track known as ‘Mosport’ in 1976 and was a mainstay on the event calendar for nearly three decades.

“The Trans-Am Series specifically has a strong history at this track,” Brandt said. “This has always been a driver’s track, and these Trans-Am cars look really incredible to drive … so we’re confident we’ll see a healthy grid filled with the Trans-Am stars of today, and you just never know who else might show up on that entry list.”

Through the years Canadian fans had lots to cheer about with racing names like Ludwig Heimrath, Eppie Wietzes, Kenny Wilden, and Ron Fellows having competed and won in Trans-Am competition here. The last Trans-Am event at the track in 2014 was won by Fellows, the 20th series victory in his 100th start and second at CTMP (and the first in 25 years) for the driver who became the principal owner of CTMP three years prior in 2011.

CTMP will release its official 2024 major event schedule in early November.
