A Bowmanville woman is going to hit the road now that she’s $100,000 richer with a lottery win.
Cindy Homes, a mom and grandmother, has played the lottery for decades, mostly picking up Bingo scratch tickets.
While making up a soup for dinner recently, she realized she needed more celery and headed to the Metro on King Street in Bowmanville. While there she got her celery and grabbed a Bingo ticket for her trouble.
“When I returned home, I finished up my soup and decided to play my ticket. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I had to check the ticket on the OLG app to confirm what I was seeing. I think I quadruple-checked it,” she later told the OLG, “It was a surprise that left me in shock.”
“On other tickets, I had been so close to revealing the box prize. I believed I would win soon,” she continued, “I shared the news with family and friends, and they all told me I deserved this win because of all that I do for others. They were so happy for me.”
“Amazing isn’t even a big enough word to describe how I feel. This is huge for me,” she concluded. She intends to travel to visit family with her winnings.
