Two arrested in drug and firearms bust in Clarington

Two individuals were arrested and charged with several offences following a search warrant yesterday in Clarington, which led to police seizing drugs and firearms.
On Friday (Oct. 6) at approximately 12:30 a.m., Durham Regional Police say, members of the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit and the York Regional Police Tactical Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Liberty St. S. and Baseline Rd.
According to investigators, inside the residence, police reportedly located numerous drugs and a firearm.
A vehicle stop in connection with the warrant also took place at Trulls Rd. and Hwy 2, which led to the arrest of a man who allegedly had drugs and a firearm in his possession, officers say.
Authorities took a man and woman into custody without incident.
Daniel Therault (39) of Bowmanville, faces multiple charges including two counts of possession of a loaded restricted firearm, and two counts of possession of a substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking.
Concurrently, Natasha Piney (38), also from Bowmanville faces similar charges including possession of a restricted firearm without a license and possession of a substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking.
Both individuals are currently in custody, awaiting a bail hearing.
This incident is Durham Region’s second drug trafficking case in less than a month. On Sept. 14, police arrested two individuals during raids on two homes, uncovering an undisclosed quantity of cocaine and meth, along with a third unspecified substance.
