A tenant dispute in Whitby turned violent resulting in one man being stabbed and charged with robbery.
On April 11, three men went to a home by Robert Attersley Drive and McKinney Drive to hang out with a friend. Around 3:30 a.m. one of these men got into an argument with the homeowner.
Durham Police say the disagreement became physical and allege the guest assaulted the homeowner and then tried to steal electronics from the home. Two other tenants of the home heard the fight and rushed to intervene. At some point, a knife was pulled and the suspect was stabbed.
When officers arrived the man who was stabbed was in life-threatening condition. He was rushed to a Toronto trauma center and arrested there. The tenant believed to have stabbed him was arrested at the scene.
The guest, a 40-year-old from Ajax, is charged with robbery and was released with conditions. The tenant is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
