Two out of 313 may not seem like much but when the two are impaired drivers, two is still way too many.

Durham Region Police’s RIDE team stopped 313 vehicles on Super Bowl Sunday and charged two drivers for impaired, with one registering a blood alcohol content of 230mg – three times the legal limit.

“Two is still far too many. If you suspect an impaired driver please call 911,” was the message from police.

Nine drivers were administered tests. In addition to the two impaired charges, two drivers who gave readings of between .05 and .08 blood alcohol were given three-day suspensions.
