Two Cobourg shooting suspects at large following raids in Durham Region

Cobourg Police are looking for two more suspects of a shooting after arresting a third and raiding two homes in Durham Region.

Gunfire rang out on the south end of Hibernia St. next to the Cobourg Harbour shortly before 5 p.m. on Aug. 16. In the days since investigators have worked to identify the source of the gunshots. They allied with Port Hope police, Durham Regional Police and Peterborough police as part of the investigation.

All four services assisted with police raids at two homes in Durham Region, though Cobourg police did not specify which municipality. During the raids, police arrested one of three suspects; Kersi Buakasa, age 19. He is charged with six offences including attempted murder, gun possession and drug possession. Police allege he was found with cocaine, meth and fentanyl.

Investigators are searching for Elijah Kerriage-Lall, age 21, on 10 charges. These include attempted murder, obstruction, breaching a release order, and multiple firearms offences. He had been previously released from custody in a separate attempted murder investigation. He is known to frequent the GTA and Northumberland County and police say he should be considered armed. Investigators describe him as five-foot-eight and 130 pounds.

Police are also looking for 18-year-old Alearen Stewart who they descrbe as standing six feet tall and wieghing 180 to 200 pounds. Stewart is wanted on seven charges including attempted murder and six firearms offences. He is also known to frequent the GTA and Northumberland County and should likewise be considered armed, police say.
