Pickering will get a new Councillor Thursday after two dozen eager civic-minded residents threw their hat in for the Ward 2 Pickering Council seat, vacant since the death of popular Councillor Ian Cummings on November 1.

Each candidate will get a chance to tell Council why they would be the best fit for the City, with the winning candidate filling the seat until the municipal election this November.

Applicants will be invited into the electronic meeting so that they can appear on camera before Council and the public through the livestream and answer questions if required. The applicant’s presentation will be verbal and they may display a PowerPoint presentation by sharing their screen.

The successful candidate will take his seat on Pickering Council January 24.
