One Durham Police officer suffered a broken nose and another a bite wound after being called to a family dispute in Bowmanville.
Police had responded to a call near Longworth Avenue and Bowmanville Avenue about an “agitated” woman attacking family members around 8:30 p.m on Sept 10. Police allege that when the officers tried to arrest the woman, she became “extremely violent.”
Officers say they had to use a taser on the woman to subdue her.
The woman faces two counts of assault, two counts of assault against a peace officer causing bodily harm and three counts of assault to resist arrest.
She is being held in an area hospital for an assessment.
