Two found dead east of Oshawa

This is a developing story.

UPDATE: The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Police have still not revealed further details. However, they will host a press conference at 5 p.m.

Original story follows: 

Two people were found dead in Courtice.

Durham Region Police announced the discovery around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 1. The pair was found in a home on Moulton Court.

The street is a short residential neighbourhood of semi-detached homes. The neighbourhood is just north of Highway 401 off of Nash Road.

Investigators confirmed both people were dead when discovered. However, they did not share the circumstances of the discovery or the cause of death. There is no threat to public safety, police said.

Neither of the people found have been publically identified.
