Two motorcyclists charged with stunt drriving with one in hospital after accident in Whitby Tuesday

A pair of motorcyclists from Richmond Hill are facing a slew of charges – including stunt driving – with one of the riders in hospital with serious injuries after both were spotted “weaving through traffic’ in Whitby Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the two motorcycles were observed driving at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic just after 3 p.m. Tuesday near Dundas Street and Lakeridge Road. One of the riders lost control and went off the road, resulting in serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

He was transported to a Toronto trauma centre.

Police say the injured rider, 20, was operating his bike with no insurance and a fake licence plate. He has been charged with stunt driving, careless driving, driving with no plates and operating a vehicle without insurance.

Both were released on provincial offence summons.

The licenses of both riders have been suspended for 30 days, and motorcycles impounded for 14 days. Both men were released on provincial offence summons.
