Two teenage girls booked after 14 year-old stabbed at Whitby school

Two teenage girls are facing charges after a 14 year-old was stabbed at Father Leo Austin Catholic School in Whitby this week.

Officers were called out to the school on Dryden Boulevard at lunch hour Monday for reports of an armed person, with the victim, suffering from stab wounds, discovered on arrival.  She was transported to a Toronto-area hospital where she remains in stable condition.

The school was placed into a brief lockdown. It was lifted shortly after as another 14 year-old girl was taken into custody.

She has been booked with possession of a dangerous weapon and three assault charges, including aggravated assault.

A 17 year-old Whitby girl has also been charged with assault.

Both girls were held for a bail hearing. Police have not yet said if they believe the assault was targetted.
