While Whitby remains one of the more expensive Durham Region municipalities, with an average home price of $1,061,199, some sellers in the town are dropping listing prices–sometimes significantly.

According to real estate website and brokerage Zoocasa, Whitby is one of several GTA municipalities where homeowners are re-evaluating their asking price in the face of a slowing market.

Here are two homes where the price has dropped $100,000 or more:

9 Gillivary Dr.

This Whitby home, located in the popular Williamsburg neighbourhood, is now listed at $999,000. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house was listed at $1,199,000 in June and at $1,218,888 in May, meaning the price has dropped $200,000 since last month. According to the listing, the house boasts nine-foot ceilings, an upgraded kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors and more. It’s also close to the Thermea spa, schools and shops.

117 Watford St.

This four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Whitby’s Brooklin community is for sale for $949,900, down from the $1,100,000 it was initially listed for in May. Prior to that, the home sold for $559,900 in 2015. According to the listing, the house features hardwood floors, a custom chef’s kitchen with copper pendant lighting, a spacious family room with a gas fireplace and proximity to highways, shops and restaurants.
