A man from Whitby offering Uber ride services on Christmas Eve, was arrested and charged following an alleged sexual assault.

On Sunday (Dec. 24) Durham Regional Police responded to Taunton Road and Garden Street after receiving reports of a woman being sexually assaulted by the driver while being transported home.

Investigators say 32-year-old Anees Ashraf has been charged with two counts of sexual assault.

Ashraf was later released on an undertaking.
