UPDATE: Highway sign wreckage has been cleared in Whitby, 401 traffic is now moving

Traffic is now moving on Hwy 401 in Whitby, nearly four hours after a transport sign collided with a highway sign, sending the sign crashing to the roadway below.
The accident occurred on the westbound lanes at Brock Street at 7:46 a.m. The transport truck that hit the overhead highway sign has been identified and OPP investigators have contacted the company.
The collapsed sign has traffic in both directions closed while OPP asked motorists to find alternate routes.
