UPDATE: Major downtown artery closed for stabbing investigation in Oshawa

Update 12:30 p.m.: Reports indicate a man was stabbed by a convenience store on the corner of Simcoe Street and John Street.

The victim was attacked around 11 a.m. He was taken to a Toronto trauma centre

One of Oshawa’s busiest downtown corridors has been partially closed down for a police investigation.

Durham Police reports they shut down Simcoe Street between Lloyd Street and John Street. The shutdown extends about 110 metres south of Memorial Park for one block.

“Please avoid the area and make alternative travel arrangements,” police said.

They did not disclose the nature of their investigation.
