An Uxbridge man was understandably “stunned” after winning $1 million in the latest Lotto Max Millions draw.
Production Manager Erik Jensen has played the lottery for 20 years, regularly enjoying Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, Ontario 49, and Daily Grand. He usually mixes quick-pick numbers and his own special numbers handed down from his father.
“The numbers I selected for this ticket are the same ones my late father used to play. He asked that I continue to play his numbers, and that’s what I did,” Jensen told the OLG.
His dad’s numbers proved to be a million-dollar gift on Dec. 3 when the numbers matched the Max Millions prize draw. “I discovered my win when I received an email from OLG,” he said “At first, I didn’t believe it. I showed the email to my daughter, and as reality began to sink in, we were stunned.”
“I’ve kept the news of my win quiet, only telling a few close family members and friends. Until the cheque is in my hands, I’m still struggling to believe it’s true,” Jensen continued, “The timing of this win is perfect; it relieves a lot of stress. There’s a little less weight on my shoulders today.”
Jensen plans to save his winnings for now.
According to the OLG, Lotto Max players in Ontario have won over $8.9 billion since 2009, including 111 jackpot wins and 937 Max Millions. Lotto Max is $5 per play and draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.
