Trail Hub, Uxbridge

The Trail Capital of Ontario can add another trophy for the mantle with Uxbridge’s Trail Hub – a former ski hill turned into a thriving outdoor destination place – honoured with an Ontario By Bike Award for Best Bicycle Friendly Business for the York Durham Headwaters region.

The training ground for some of Ontario’s top mountain bikers (including former Olympian Emily Batty, whose parents Rick and Cindy Batty own the facility), Trail Hub offers hiking, snowshoeing, disc golf and cross-country skiing, in addition to trail riding amenities. The venue also boasts farm-to-table cuisine and spectacular views from the post-and-beam chalet, making it a popular place for corporate events and weddings.

“Being named the Best Bicycle-Friendly Business is a significant achievement for Trail Hub. It recognizes our efforts to promote cycling in the community and our dedication to providing cyclists with a welcoming and supportive environment,” Trail Hub said in a statement.

The award was also appropriate for Trail Hub, which prides itself on its eco-friendly practices. “We believe in sustainable tourism and supporting local communities.”

Businesses were selected from across Ontario for their efforts in providing welcoming services to cyclists visiting their locations as well as supporting cycling and bicycle tourism within their community. A winner (or two) was selected from each of the 13 tourism regions in Ontario.

Trail Hub boasts some of the most scenic trails in the area, along with road and gravel riding for the more adventurous. Located at the highest point in Durham, Trail Hub offers natural scenery and access to 240 kilometres of trails surrounding the facility.
