Vehicle crashes into home after a bank break-in overnight in Ajax

A vehicle crashed into a home after a bank was broken into in Ajax overnight.
The incident began around 11:20 p.m. last night (March 3) when police received a call for a break-and-enter in progress at the Scotibank at 15 Westney Rd, in Ajax, Durham Regional Police told inDurham.
Officers found a suspicious vehicle at the bank, police said.
The driver attempted to flee the area, and crashed into a nearby residence in the area off Westney Road and Finley Avenue, police said.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
No one was injured in the home, police said, however, it was evacuated to ensure the safety of the residents.
The home is currently being evaluated by an engineer to determine its structural integrity.
Another male suspect was located near the bank and taken into custody by police, police added.
Photos in a post on X show a vehicle crashed through a home on Rands Road and police searching the Westney Heights Plaza.
Westney Road South was closed from Finley Avenue to Lake Driveway West for a police investigation, Durham Regional Police said in a post on X just after 6 a.m. today (March 4).
