Victims held at gunpoint during early-hour home invasion In Whitby

Police are on the hunt for four suspects after an early morning armed home invasion in Whitby Saturday that had a couple held at gunpoint while their house was robbed.

Durham Police say a man smashed the victim’s basement window and entered the home at Beaverdams Drive and Audubon Street, just south of Heber Downs Conservation Area, just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

The suspect then unlocked the rear door to the residence, allowing three more men to enter, who found the homeowner in the living room and forced him up to the second floor at gun point. The victim and his wife were held there by two of the suspects while the other two raided the residence.

Numerous items including phones, handbags, jewelry and cash were taken in the robbery before the suspects freed the victims and left the residence.

The victim attended a nearby gas station and called 911.  Neither victim sustained any physical injuries.

Police believe this was an isolated incident and there are no threats to public safety.

The first suspect is described as white and six feet tall with a medium build.  He was wearing a black balaclava face covering, dark coloured shirt, dark pants, and dark shoes.

The second suspect is described as Black with a black face mask, dark coloured shirt and dark pants.

Suspect #3 was described as Black, approximately 5’4” and wearing a black balaclava face covering, dark coloured shirt, and dark pants. The fourth suspect was also Black, with a black face mask, dark coloured shirt and dark pants.
