An Oshawa man is facing numerous charges after he attempted to flee from police in a stolen vehicle Wednesday night.

Central East Division spotted the stolen plates on a Dodge Caravan near Fundy Street and Quetico Court in the city’s south end just before 11:30 pm Wednesday and made an arrest attempt.

The suspect fled and failed to stop for police and the officers, citing public safety, terminated the chase.

Air1 located the fleeing vehicle on Bragg Road, north of Highway 2 in Clarington and police were able to pull over the suspect and make the arrest.

A 36 year-old Oshawa man is facing a total of 31 charges, including three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000; Fail to Stop for Police – Pursuit; ten counts of using false identity, nine counts of breach of probation, three counts of operating a vehicle while prohibited, fail to comply and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

A 31 year-old Ajax women, who was a passenger in the van, is charged with ten counts of using false identity, nine counts of breach of probation, three counts of operation while prohibited, fail to comply and dangerous operation.

They were both held for a bail hearing.
