An Ajax man has been charged in connection to a shooting in Markham while two more suspects remain at large.

Gunfire erupted near Kirkham and New Delhi Drives shortly before 4 a.m. on March 10. The area is a commercial zone home to a large strip mall and a Home Depot. When York Regional Police arrived they found a man suffering from a non-fatal gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital.

Toronto Police helped their York counterparts identify a suspect; Roshvin Crofton, 22 of Ajax. They raided Crofton’s home on April 25 with back up from the Durham Police Tactical Support Unit.

Crofton is charged with several offences including;

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Motor vehicle theft, and
  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The following day, investigators announced Crofton’s arrest. At the same time, they released a security video from an area business showing Crofton and three other unidentified men entering.

Anyone with information about the men’s identities can call police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7541, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
