It took the help of Air1 and the K9 Unit but four suspects – including two youths – are in custody after a violent armed home invasion in south Oshawa Tuesday evening.

A fifth is still at large.

Durham Police say the suspects – all brandishing guns – forced their way into a residence near Ritson Rd. S. and Valley Drive about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday and assaulted one of the homeowners, causing serious injuries.

The suspects then went to the basement of the home where they assaulted another resident and demanded money, police said.

The second victim sustained minor injuries.

The suspects then fled in a stolen vehicle.

Police searched the area and tracked the vehicle a short distance away heading towards a dead end before all suspects fled on foot. With the assistance of Air1 and the K9 Unit, police were able to catch four of the suspects, who were all taken into custody.
