If watching racehorses speed down a straight track in full view of the grandstand (and maybe winning some prizes while you’re there) sounds like a fun long weekend activity, Ajax Downs is the place to be Sunday.

Horse racing fans can celebrate the long weekend with Quarter Horse racing – including the 12th running of the $39,330 Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity with defending champion First Cold Wave as well as Pretty Runaway, who appeared on the ‘Kelly Clarkson Show’ and several news programs this spring because of her head-banging moves to heavy metal (with a particlar love of Pantera, Motorhead and Slipknot) both in the field

The afternoon will also include prizes and giveaways. Fans will receive a free t-shirt with a program purchase (while supplies last) and have a chance to win a $50 betting voucher, a foosball table/cooler and other prizes.

First race post time is 12:55 p.m.
