Volunteers are wanted for the final Mayor’s Cleanup of the year in Oshawa on September 7 at Second Marsh.
Mayor Dan Carter and a team of helpers were busy beautifying downtown at cleanups on May 25 and June 22, with volunteers doing their part in sprucing up local parks, green spaces, trail and schoolyards.
During the annual Community Cleanup Week, held on the fourth week of April, more than 60 people from local neighbourhoods, schools and organizations showed up to collect more than 1,500 bags of garbage.
“We are grateful for the support,” Carter said in a news release asking for help for the final time this year. “Thank you for helping create a safe and clean community for everyone to enjoy.”
“We are excited about the prospect of continuing to work together in downtown Oshawa in 2025.”
The meet-up for the September 7 cleanup at Second Marsh will be at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., near the waterfront in Oshawa’s southeast. It is recommended participants bring tongs or reachers to help prevent back strain.
