Wanted man charged with assaulting police after arrest in Pickering

A “suspicious” man knocking on doors in Pickering’s Seaton community was charged with assault and resisting arrest after police identified him as a wanted man and tried to bring him into custody.

Durham Police responded to several calls about the man Sunday evening and were at Mockingbird Square and Mourning Dove Lane at 9 p.m. when they found him and attempted to make the arrest, with both police officers treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

Joseph Milligan, 30, of No Fixed Address is charged with two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest. He was released on an undertaking and transferred to another police service for his outstanding warrants.
